Frequently asked questions

What is FitScore?

FitScore scores your fitness test (military, police and fire, strength, Olympic lifts, functional fitness, running, swimming, cycling, grip) on the published standard, then shows your percentile against the right comparison group, or pass/fail where only minimums are published, and helps you train for your next goal.

Is my score official?

No. FitScore uses the official published scoring tables, but only a test administered by the organization itself counts. FitScore is not affiliated with any military branch, the FBI, any police academy or fire service organization, or any fitness brand.

Why does my result say the comparison is still building?

Some tests compare you only with other FitScore users. That percentile appears once 200 people in your sex and age group have logged the test, so it's never based on a handful of people.

Do I need an account?

No. You can score any test without one. An account saves your results and workouts, tracks progress, and enables training plans. Accounts require age 13 or older.

How many training plans can I make?

2 every 30 days, free. The Training plan card shows how many you have left and when the next one becomes available.

I forgot my password.

On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password?, enter your account email, and we will email you a code. Enter the code and a new password in the app.

How do I change my age, bodyweight or units?

Account → Profile. Enter your birth month and year and your age stays current on its own; your profile prefills every test.

How do I change which tests I see first?

Account → Your domains. You can also tap the domain on the Score tab and choose Edit your domains.

Can I fix a result or workout I already saved?

Yes. Open it in History (or Recent workouts on the Train tab) and tap Edit.

How does the rest timer alert work?

Tick a set and the rest timer starts. When it ends your phone vibrates, or sends an alert if it is locked. Turn it off under Account → Reminders.

How do I delete my account?

Account → Delete account, then type DELETE to confirm. This permanently deletes your account and everything saved with it. No app? See vantagecost.co/fitscore/delete-account.

How do I report a bug or suggest a feature?

In the app: Account → Send feedback. Or email us at the address above.

Health & safety

Before you start

FitScore gives general fitness information, not medical advice. Talk to a doctor before starting a new exercise program or a maximal test, especially if you have a heart condition, high blood pressure, an injury, are pregnant, or haven't exercised in a while.

While you train

Warm up first, and build up gradually. Stop right away and get help if you feel chest pain, dizziness, unusual shortness of breath, or sharp pain.

Max-effort lifts and timed tests carry real injury risk. Use good technique, a spotter or safety bars for heavy lifts, and equipment you know how to use.

Olympic lifts (snatch, clean and jerk): use bumper plates and a clear platform so a missed lift can be dropped safely, and learn the lifts from a qualified coach before testing a max.

Swim tests: never swim a timed or max-effort test alone. Test in a pool with a lifeguard or another trained person watching, and stop if you feel faint or short of breath.

Weighted vests, rucks and job-task tests (such as the CPAT or a Hero WOD in a vest) add load to your heart, back and joints. Build up to the full weight before testing with it.

Estimates, not measurements

Estimated 1-rep maxes, muscle recovery, percentiles and suggested weights are estimates from formulas and data, not measurements of your body. Adjust to how you feel.

Young athletes

Children and teens should test and train with a qualified adult's supervision. Results for anyone under 13 aren't saved.
